Lake Como is one of the most used recreation stops! This recreation area allows for boating, a hiking/running trail, with limited handicap trail accessibility and a beach area. This area is also home to a number of trail heads leading you into National Forest and eventually the wilderness. Here in Darby we are very proud of public lands and want to continue to keep them pristine. Practice Leave No Trace if you are heading out into the backcountry.
Painted Rocks Lake, south of town up the West Fork of the Bitterroot River also has a number of great camping spots and access to many great trail heads. If you are looking for a challenge you will find Trapper Peak is a must hike, taking you all the way up to 10,153ft. Just head up the West Fork and turn right at Lavene Creek. The West Fork area also offers a number of roads for four wheeling and dirt biking to fuel a faster outdoor adventure. The West Fork river also has plenty of access points to put your raft on and float the river.
The West Fork & East Fork of the Bitterroot River offers prime fishing for Cutthroat & Rainbow Trout. Darby is the gateway to the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness, Frank Church Wilderness of No Return and Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness areas. Many back country roads will lead you to high mountain streams and lakes provide great fishing access as well as backpacking opportunities.

As you drive down main street you’ll find a Full service Grocery store, Bank, Credit union, Gym, Yoga, Public Library, the Old West Gallery, Marcus Daly Clinic and St Francis Pet Hospital. you.
