If you’ve been to a Darby rodeo lately, chances are you’ve already met him – red hat, striped shirt, painted-on grin, and a wave big enough to see from the top of the bleachers. That’s Dalton Morris, better known in the arena as Disco Dalton, and he’s become a fan favorite at events right here at the Richard Cromwell Memorial Rodeo Grounds.
Dalton grew up around rodeo in Odessa, Missouri, where his family helped run the local hometown rodeo. He got his start “fighting sheep” at youth rodeos before working his way up to the barrelman and entertainer role he’s known for today like his amazing trick roping, crowd work, and keeping the energy up between events for PRCA and PBR crowds all over the country. Darby has been lucky enough to have him for multiple events this season, and if you caught him at Xtreme Bareback in June, you know exactly why folks in the stands can’t stop smiling.

Two PRCA-Sanctioned Events, Right Here in Darby
Here’s something the Bitterroot Valley should be proud of: Darby Rodeo Association is hosting two PRCA-sanctioned events this season! A very rare thing for a town this size, and a big reason rodeo fans from across the region keep circling Darby on their calendars.
We already saw the Dutton Ranch Darby Xtreme Bareback, one of the richest stand-alone bareback events in the country, back in June. Now it’s time for the second: the 1st Annual Darby Xtreme Bulls, coming up August 23rd. Top PRCA bull riders will be in the arena competing for $60,000, and if Xtreme Bareback was any indication, this one is going to be a can’t-miss afternoon.
- Gates open: 12:00pm
- Event time: 2:00–4:30pm
- Tickets: $45 (kids 2 and under free)

Making the Bitterroot Even Better
Events like this are part of what makes living in the Bitterroot Valley so special – small-town roots, big Western tradition, and neighbors turning out to cheer for cowboys (and clowns) who give it everything they’ve got. Whether you’re a longtime local or thinking about making Darby home, this is the kind of thing you get to be part of around here.
Hope to see you in the stands on August 23rd!
